FOR THE MOMENTS THAT FEEL BIG

Big Feelings & SEL

Children are still learning what feelings are, what their bodies are telling them, and what they can do when something feels overwhelming.

These resources are designed to make those skills easier to practice through simple language, visual tools, stories, and connection.

FEELING WORDS & BODY CLUES

Resources that help children notice what is happening in their bodies and begin putting words to what they feel.

REGULATION TOOLS

Breathing, movement, quiet-time, connection, and other simple choices children can practice when feelings get big.

ASKING FOR HELP

Tools that help children identify safe grown-ups, practice asking for support, and learn that needing help is okay.

FRIENDSHIP & REPAIR

Simple resources for kindness, listening, conflict, apologizing, reconnecting, and trying again after something goes wrong.

BUBBLE COVE TOOLS

Gentle regulation resources inspired by Bubble Cove, where children can pause, notice what they need, and return when ready.

LEARNING THROUGH STORY

Many of these skills also appear inside Big Feelings Bay stories, where children can watch characters experience a feeling, get support, practice a tool, and try again.

The goal isn't to stop children from having big feelings.

It's to help them understand what they can do when those feelings come.

FOR THE THINGS THAT AREN'T ALWAYS EASY TO EXPLAIN

Family Conversations

Big questions deserve honest, child-sized answers.

Children notice more than we sometimes realize. They hear conversations, see changes, ask questions, and try to make sense of a world that can feel very grown-up.

Family Conversations offers gentle, age-appropriate resources to help grown-ups talk with children about real-life situations with honesty, kindness, and reassurance.

Not every conversation needs a perfect speech. Sometimes children simply need clear words, a safe place to ask questions, and a grown-up willing to stay in the conversation with them.

FAMILIES & TWO HOMES

Resources for talking about divorce, separation, different homes, changing family structures, and loving the people in your family even when life looks different.

FEELINGS & HARD MOMENTS

Conversation tools for disappointment, worry, grief, mistakes, conflict, and the moments when children have questions we can't always fix.

MONEY & WORK

Child-friendly ways to explain work, different kinds of jobs, entrepreneurship, money, and why families sometimes make different financial choices.

FAMILY RULES & BOUNDARIES

Resources that help children understand that families can have different rules, adults make adult decisions, and children are not responsible for solving grown-up problems.

BIG LIFE CHANGES

Gentle support for conversations about moving, changing schools, new routines, family transitions, and other changes children may be trying to understand.

A CHILD DOESN'T NEED EVERY DETAIL

They need the truth in a form they can safely carry.

We can be honest without giving children adult-sized burdens. The goal is to help them understand what affects their world while reminding them that the grown-up problems still belong to the grown-ups.

When you don't know what to say, start here:

1. TELL THE TRUTH

Use clear, simple words your child can understand.

2. KEEP IT CHILD-SIZED
3. MAKE ROOM FOR QUESTIONS
4. REMIND THEM WHAT ISN'T THEIR JOB

Share what they need to know without handing them adult worries to carry.

It's okay if the conversation happens a little at a time.

Children can have feelings and questions without being responsible for fixing the situation.

We can't make every part of life simple.

But we can help children feel safe enough to understand it.

TOOLS FOR THE PEOPLE DOING THIS WORK EVERY DAY

Classroom & Educator Resources

Because children learn best when they feel safe enough to learn.

Teaching is about so much more than the lesson in front of us. Every classroom is also filled with feelings, friendships, mistakes, worries, transitions, hard days, and children who are still learning how to navigate all of it.

These resources are designed to give educators practical tools they can actually use—without adding one more complicated thing to an already full plate.

SEL LESSONS & ACTIVITIES

Simple, developmentally appropriate lessons and activities for building emotional awareness, regulation, empathy, friendship, and resilience.

TEACHER GUIDES

Practical companion guides that help educators extend stories and concepts through discussion, reflection, classroom activities, and family connections.

CALM & REGULATION TOOLS

Visuals, prompts, and simple classroom tools that help children notice what they need and practice regulation without turning calm into compliance.

CLASSROOM CONNECTION

Resources for building belonging, kindness, communication, repair, and emotionally safe classroom communities.

FAMILY CONNECTION

Simple take-home resources that help extend classroom learning and give families language they can use together.

A NOTE FROM ONE EDUCATOR TO ANOTHER

You don't have to fix every feeling before you can teach the child.

Sometimes teaching begins by noticing what's happening, helping a child feel safe, and giving their nervous system enough time to come back online. Connection isn't separate from learning. It's often what makes learning possible.

When a child is having a hard moment:

1. NOTICE

What might this child's behavior be communicating?

2. CONNECT

Let the child know they aren't alone in the moment.

3. REGULATE

Offer simple support before expecting problem-solving or learning.

4. TEACH

Return to the skill, conversation, or expectation when the child is ready to receive it.

TEACH WITH BIG FEELINGS BAY

Big Feelings Bay stories can be paired with teacher guides, discussion prompts, classroom activities, vocabulary, regulation practice, and family connections.

The goal isn't a classroom without big feelings.

It's a classroom where children know they can have them, get support, learn, and try again.

PRINT IT. TRY IT. MAKE IT YOURS.

Printables & Activities

Simple things to do together can lead to some pretty important conversations.

Not every learning moment needs a lesson plan.
Sometimes a coloring page, conversation card, simple activity, or piece of paper on the kitchen table is enough to help a child talk, wonder, practice, or understand something in a new way.
This is where you'll find easy-to-use activities designed for real homes, classrooms, and little hands.

FEELINGS & EMOTIONS

Activities that help children notice, name, draw, talk about, and better understand their feelings.

FRIENDSHIP & KINDNESS

Activities for practicing empathy, communication, kindness, repair, and being a good friend.

CALMING & REGULATION

Simple visual tools and activities children can use to explore what helps their bodies feel safe and settled.

COLORING & CREATIVE PLAY

Low-pressure creative activities that give children space to color, imagine, draw, and express themselves.

CONVERSATION STARTERS

Gentle prompts that make it easier for children and grown-ups to talk about feelings, friendships, family, and everyday life.

LEARN & PRACTICE

Simple worksheets and hands-on activities that turn important ideas into something children can see, touch, and practice.

There's no perfect way to use a printable.

Use it exactly as it is.

PRINT IT

Let the activity start a conversation.

TALK ABOUT IT

Sit beside your child and explore it with them.

DO IT TOGETHER

Color it, change it, repeat it, or use only the part that helps.

MAKE IT YOUR OWN

I've made a little place for that, too.

Learning doesn't always have to look like learning.

Sometimes it looks like coloring, talking, playing, wondering, and figuring things out together.

The story may end, but the learning doesn't have to.

Big Feelings Bay gives children a gentle place to see big feelings happen through characters and stories they can understand.

These companion resources help bring that learning off the screen and into homes and classrooms through conversation, play, reflection, and practice.

Use what helps. Skip what doesn't. Come back whenever you need it.

START WITH STORY #1

Ollie Has Too Much to Do

Ollie's first story explores what it can feel like when there is too much to think about or do at once.
Children practice noticing overwhelm, pausing, breathing, choosing one thing, and trying again.

WE'RE PRACTICING: Noticing overwhelm · Pausing · Breathing · One thing at a time · Trying again

THE RESOURCE ISN'T THE LESSON.

The real learning happens in the conversation, connection, and practice that happen around it.
A printable can give us a place to begin. A safe grown-up helps bring the lesson to life.

Watch it. Talk about it. Practice it. Come back when you need it.

That's how little skills grow.

"You don't need all the answers to make a child feel safe, seen, and supported."

Sometimes being willing to stay, listen, and learn together is enough to begin.

Safe. Seen. Supported.

That's where learning begins.
